Meeting Report: Monday, June 18th
Attendance:
John Von Hollen: 5-7PM
Work Done:
Responded to email [John]
Talked with Andrew about the computer in the office and library. He said they are planning to just run Cat5 cable under the house soon, so we dont need to worry about setting up wireless. Printing from the office is working. [John]
Worked on "upgrading" dre to 7.04 (you have to upgrade to 6.10 first), it was left still upgrading to 6.10 with the screen locked. It will be interesting to see how stable upgrading is compared to a fresh install but It is probably better to do a fresh install to Fiesty ( 7.04) when possible. [John]
Worked on setting up the testing motherboard. I think we may be having trouble because of improper grounding and other problems that occur from just having the motherboard sitting out on the table. I have instead set up a testing "case" that is a striped PC case that will be easy to connect stuff to test out. However I dont know if we have any PC2100 RAM anywhere, so we may need another case as this only has 128mb in it. [John]
To do list:
Get the last complete computer to Community Connection, and organize
payment.

Meeting Report: Sunday, June 17th
Attendance:
Mike Vigilant: 1:30-5PM
John Von Hollen: 1:30-5PM
Matthew Williams 1:30-5PM
Work Done:
Checked and responded to several e-mails. [Mike]
E-mailed Community Connection re: picking up their last computer and
arranging payment. [Mike]
Called Creative Recycling--paperwork Semmy sent was returned
undelivered with an address error though it was addressed according to
CR's original letter. Left a message for them to call or e-mail us
with what they want us to do. [Mike]
Created a new invoice file. It's in the group's files page. Much
easier to use. Yellow cells fill themselves in. [Mike]
Researched the continuation of Bike Athens' database drama. No luck,
so I posted the newest message from them. [Mike]
Set up Google Calendar for FreeITAthens. It's been shared with
primary staff. To use: sign in as yourself, see the new appointments
in your calendar. Coming to Open Hours? Click on an appointment and
add you name in the details under "Attendance." When you save, make
sure you chose "only this appointment" rather than "all future
appointments." [Mike]
Attempted to get the office computer back on the wireless network--
still no love after trying several different cards. [John]
Deleted winmodems from database so they can go to the shed. [John]
Set up a new testing motherboard--sort of. [John and Matthew]
Worked on parts database. [Matthew]
Checked in a donated computer and worked on installing Ubuntu.
[Matthew]
Note: A guy from Food Not Bombs may stop by on Monday to have us look
at his motherboard. [John]
